About the Artist
Wynn Yau is a Chinese-Canadian artist based in Toronto. Born in Hong Kong, her artist parents nurtured her creativity and imagination from an early age. She studied fine arts in school and earned an Honours BA in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo. Upon graduating, Wynn spent eight years in corporate design, branding, and consulting, developing a strong foundation in visual storytelling, colour theory, and illustration. In 2025, she began her career as a self-employed creative entrepreneur, where she turned her focus to acrylic painting. Inspired by her pet hedgehog Remy, her work blends bright colours with gentle humour to celebrate the joy, nostalgia, and everyday magic of life with pets, offering heartwarming mementos that spark comfort and delight.

The Whimsical World of Remy the Hedgie
My work celebrates the joy and nostalgia of life with pets, through whimsical, narrative-driven acrylic paintings. Inspired by my pet hedgehog Remy and the little adventures he experienced, I create heartwarming paintings that reflect both timidity and bravery. Using bright colour palettes and a touch of gentle humour, I aim to balance playfulness with emotional depth, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with their own experiences. Through my work, I hope to create art that feels approachable and uplifting, encouraging viewers to cherish the little moments in life.
