Artist Statement:
My artwork explores childhood memories through the lens of my original character, Remy the Hedgie, who was inspired by my pet hedgehog that I adopted in December 2020. Using acrylic paint and oil pastels, I enjoy creating whimsical scenes of Remy experiencing nostalgic moments, including: savouring the first bite of a sweet bun, late night whispers with his teddy bear, and daydreaming in the clouds.

Ocean Dreams (36x36")
“Ocean Dreams” is a celebration of imagination and vulnerability. In this piece, Remy the Hedgie drifts gently on a sea shaped by his own quills—each one a thread of his dreams. The circular ocean is a safe space where his feelings and hopes come together, surrounded by a warm, sandy shore. It’s a gentle story about imagination and being open with your heart.

Little Hedgehog, Big Wonder (10x10")
"Little Hedgehog, Big Wonder" captures the sweet simplicity of comfort and imagination. In a world of swirling colour and whimsy, Remy the Hedgie hugs his beloved teddy—a small gesture of love and safety in a vast, playful universe. This piece is a tribute to childhood wonder and the quiet power of holding on to what makes us feel at home.

Small Hog, Big Attitude (10x10")
Remy the Hedgie may be small, but his attitude takes center stage. With crossed arms, a furrowed brow, and sparkling eyes, he’s caught in one of those big-feeling moments that only childhood can deliver. "Small Hog, Big Attitude" plays with expression, scale, and emotion—reminding us how serious things can feel when you're little.

Sleepless Whispers (10x10")
"Sleepless Whispers" captures a quiet night where Remy the Hedgie and his teddy lie awake, lost in soft thoughts and starlit stillness. It’s about the comfort of not being alone when rest feels far.

First Day At Work (10x10")
"First Day At Work" captures the jitters of starting something new—shaky paws, wonky latte art, and a nervous sweat. It’s a tender, humorous take on the pressure to get everything right when everything feels unfamiliar. Through Remy’s small struggles, this piece taps into that universal feeling of wanting to do well. Sometimes, trying your best is the real art.

Cotton Candy Clouds (10x10")
"Cotton Candy Clouds" is a gentle nod to childhood daydreams—when the sky looked like dessert and sleep came easy. Nestled on a cloud of sugary softness, Remy the Hedgie drifts through memories of carefree afternoons, reminding us of the sweetness in slowing down.

Remy in Bloom (10x10")
"Remy in Bloom" is a celebration of blooming right where you are. With flowers tucked into his quills and a soft pink world behind him, he reminds us that beauty, growth, and a bit of whimsy can thrive in unexpected places. It’s about embracing who you are, where you are, and letting yourself flourish anyway.

Love At First Bite (10x10")
"Love At First Bite" explores the simple pleasures of childhood—the first taste of something warm, comforting, and delicious. Remy the Hedgie takes a bite of a buttery bolo yao (pineapple bun with a slab of butter, a traditional pastry from Hong Kong), savouring that perfect moment of sweetness that feels like home.

Dream Tunnel (10x10")
"Dream Tunnel" captures Remy the Hedgie’s peaceful journey into slumber, curled up in a soft tunnel of fleece that blossoms like a rose. It’s a cozy escape into a world where comfort and dreams intertwine, and every nap feels like a delicate adventure.
